    SMA® ADVANCED First Infant Milk is a nutritionally complete breast milk substitute. It is enriched with Omega 3 & 6 Long Chain Polyunsaturates (LCPs) and is an Easy to Digest formula suitable from birth onwards. SMA® ADVANCED FOLLOW-ON MILK

  • Why choose SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk?

    SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk is tailored for babies from 6 months as part of a varied weaning diet. It is the only follow-on formula in the UK and Ireland to contain human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) that are structurally identical to those found in human milk. SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk is enriched with iron to help support normal cognitive development in baby’s brain. It contains a blend of vitamins, including A, C & D and Zinc to help support the normal function of baby’s immune system, and is enriched with Omega 3 & 6 and iodine to help support normal growth.     The beneficial effect of essential fatty acids is obtained with a daily intake of 10 g of Linoleic acid and 2 g of α-linolenic acid.

    The two Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) used in SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk have been assessed by EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) as safe for use in baby milks. There are also 50 research studies over 24 years that support the role of HMOs in infant nutrition.

    No, the Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) present in our SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk are structurally identical to the HMOs found in breast milk. The HMOs in SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk are made by fermentation of lactose.

    SMA® ADVANCED Growing Up Milk is nutritionally enriched to help support young children's growth up until their 4th birthday. It is the only Growing Up Milk in the UK and Ireland to contain structurally identical human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). It contains vitamin D and calcium to support the normal growth and development of bones, and Omega 3 & 6 and iodine to help support normal growth. It also contains a blend of vitamins, including A, C & D and Zinc to help support the normal function of baby’s immune system. SMA® ADVANCED Growing Up Milk is also enriched with iron to help support normal cognitive development in baby’s brain.

Important notice

Breast milk is best for babies and breastfeeding should continue for as long as possible. Infant milks are suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed and should only be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist, or other professionals responsible for maternal and child care. SMA® ADVANCED Follow-on Milk is only suitable for babies over 6 months as part of a mixed diet. It should not be used as a substitute for breast milk during the first 6 months of life. The decision to start weaning or to use this product before 6 months, should be made only on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist, based on baby’s individual needs. SMA® ADVANCED Growing Up Milk is suitable for young children from the 12th month as part of a healthy balanced diet and it is not suitable as a breast milk substitute

Important advice to mothers

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life. SMA® Nutrition fully supports this and continued breastfeeding, along with the introduction of complementary foods as advised by your healthcare professional.
